Program change on Panel A/B in External

Post by Totmusic »

I´m sorry to ask the same Newbee Q again but...
I have a NSEX as master and a Roland FA 76 as a slave.
I´m trying to get the slave to change sound by switching panel A/B in external mode.
On Panel A I have a Piano, layered with a Stringpad sound across the entire NSEX, but on B I´d like to have a split
with an organ from NSEX and A brass/string sound from the fantom. But i doens´t work.
I´ve tried to change the midichannel on the external chanels, but when i change fron A to B it becomes a mess,
with all the sounds layered together.

Could some help me with the settings, cause I´m going NUTTS!
Tnx ahead

Can you post how you have it configured now? What are the MIDI channel setting on your Nord and what channels are you using on your Roland?

I'm not sure that the Stage sends Program Changes out when you just change the Panel A/B, I think it just sends Program Changes when you switch to a new Program.

Correct, as said in a recent similar discussion http://www.norduserforum.com/nord-stage ... t5585.html

Ouch, that explains alot. I was just tring to find a way to change sounds without getting, the "clip".
Tnx 4 letting me know.
The FA 76 isn´t the newest keyes on the block, but it´s what I can afford right now.
Like tha man said. I´ll have to work on splitting the sounds, or do U guys know any another way around that problem?

If it helps, you can set the Parameter knob in the Extern section to send Program Changes. (Push the Parameter Select switch until the Prog Change LED lights). Not sure how useful it will be in your own situation as it still doesn't completely address what you want to do, but it might help point you in another direction.

Try putting your 2 Fantom patches together in a Multitmbre or Performance. The first patch you use would have to be assigned the same MIDI channel as you're using for sending Program Change and a different channel should be used for patch 2. Calling up the program on the EX should then call up the Fantom Performance and toggling between panels A and B will allow you to access the appropriate Fantom sound.
