When I play live i just use the Nord Stage and run it through the mixer. But sometimes i carry a Fender Hot Rod Amp, just for the rhodes sounds, and mic it. It really makes a lot of difference to me. I have Rhodes Suitcase 88, and it is really difficult to haul it to gigs and studio. Everytime i move it, there is some minor repair i gotta to do afterwards. So the Nord Stage Rhodes plus the Fender Hot Rod seems like a nice solution. Even Better if you can get your hands on a Twin Reverb. Just my two cents.

I've found that the trick with the Rhodes sounds (I own 3), is to try to play the Nord like a Fatar and not like a Rhodes, if that makes sense. I'm fairly happy with the Rhodes sounds, but yes, you have to modify your technique to get satisfactory results.

All of my old Rhodes pianos have been totally different. It's much of a muchness.

The problem lies with the crap sampling/modelling rather than the action.

What I have a hard time tolerating is the unrealistic volume differences encountered above middle C as mention in this thread.
Vamping with my left hand and with right hand soloing is almost impossible to get the overall sound correct because of this.

I'm finding the same thing, David. The sound gets very quiet in a live environment as you move up the keyboard away from middle C and is drowned out by the lower notes.

Has this been previously discussed somewhere on this forum? Can't seem to find it!
