Nord Piano 88=WOW

Post by Krzysztof »

Hello

The subject says it all, after many years and many different "piano" keyboards, the folks at Nord hit the nail on the head. Closest thing to an acoustic piano.
Thank you for the great work.

Regards

Krzysztof

I agree, welcome to the forum.
I've been a devout Nord user since 2001.
I'd be interested in hearing about how your new Nord piano compares to your playing experiences on acoustic grands. In particular, how is the feel, sensitivity, and response?
Which piano samples do you most like, and for which styles of music?
Cheers, Hanon

I play exclusively on 100th Anniversary Yamaha C5 pianos on the job. They feel great and it they're tuned properly, they sound great as well.

Now with the NP88, as you can imagine, the keys are not as heavy, but the dynamics and responsiveness of sound is as close as you can get.

I'm one of those people who think that Korg and Roland are doing a _very_ crappy job at their keyboards (from the actual keys to sounds and samples), and that's why I decided to buy the NP88. Having played on the Classic Stage 88 when it came out, I knew the NP88 was going to be better. And it is.

For a portable piano with great feel and pretty heavy keys (though not as heavy as the real wooden ones) - the NP88 is THE keyboard to buy.

I have no buyer's remorse what-so-ever and when I don't have access to a proper grand, I'll take the NP88 over any other portable piano, any day!

Just my 2 cents...

Nice to hear you like it so much, as I am about to order mine without being able to see one in person. The nearest store is about 600 miles away, so I'm going on everyones great reviews. I'll probably want to know what's necessary when you first unpack it. Since I don't have broadband at home, I'll want to DL any files from work...is that necessary? If so, what should I be DL'ing on the clavia site? thanks

When I bought my NP88 in April, the only thing missing out-of-the-box was the new 'Grand Imperial' sound bank because they just released it. So that was the only thing I actually had to download of their website.

The rest of the patches on the website come with the piano pre-loaded.

Enjoy your NP88!

thanks Cee....fedex tracking says expected delivery is tomorrow. I just modified my stand to have a second tier for my old QS8..it has some great pads that I think will work nicely with the NP. http://users.gotsky.com/tlauria/stand.jpg

Nice wooden stand you got there Tonio, but if that Alesis you have on top is a 67key, the NP88 will be way wider so you might want to move your stand a little to the left to fit it.. But that shouldn't be a problem.

Enjoy your NP, hit us back with some initial impressions, will ya? :D
