Wishlist for the nord drum.

Wishlist for the nord drum:

Edit all parameters via MIDI.

Having a way to merge two channels to create a hi-hat open and closed (closed when the other stops). In a channel would
better still.

To output midi midi-thru be too.

A few more waveforms in tone.

Pianohenry:

This involves changing the hardware.
I do not think that is easily implementable.
I'm thinking of improvements that can made in software only.

The things you listed make sense, and were mentioned by others as well -

but we don't know whether the current ND hardware can handle the software features we propose..

- be able to control parameters thru MIDI CCs live - I agree, would be nice
( - an editor is perhaps already possible using midi dump option - requires some software to send the right sysEx)
- option to stop one sound with triggering another (to mimic hi-hat open & close type of thing) - (=2 channels), yup,
- you can also recreate this effect using only one channel; by controlling note length with a midi controller - which would require...

just for the sake of it:
- import your own waveforms into a few user slots
- be able to set dynamics, sensitivity & threshold per program, might be handy - in some cases - perhaps
- trigger 2 or more channels with one trigger + using different thresholds: to completely change the sound dynamically
- tremolo, vibrato

hardware future:
- more inputs, so: more channels - though I'm happy now
- as mentioned; more outputs, at least stereo
- headphones output I'd like
- USB MIDI & OS/data transfer
- accepts hi-hat triggers
- accepts cymbal choke

Cheers,

Albert

Top of the wish list tree for me is an update allowing the 16 main buttons to become a rudimentary 16 step sequencer, could be very easy to use with combinations of shift to toggle steps on and off (I know velocity is key but can go without).
It would be short I know but I can sit for hours with mine just programming and having a little sequencer would make me so happy. It's such a lovely machine but this for me would be the ultimate.

I've been holding off on this because I wanted to USE it first, ya dig?
I've intentionally held off analyzing waveforms, or decoding SYSEX stream, because I wanted to move air first.
After a couple of months, here's my wish list:

1) control start time of each element
... As it is, all three elements, Tone, Noise, and Attack, all start the moment the sound is triggered.
- How about allowing me to change the start times in milliseconds? Tone and Attack start at 0, noise starts at 480ms?

2) A couple of more oscillators per voice
... A long tones decay will disappear when the sound is retriggered
- While this can make for some interesting sounds, I'd like to have the option to turn this off or on at my discretion.

3) Velocity Scaling
... At this time strike velocity does modulate some parameters in the ND: sweep, punch, filter, depending on the element in question.
- I'd like the ability to change how velocity affects the parameter. It seems as if more velocity = higher value sent to said parameter. Let me affect the Tone sweep in the last 30% of the velocity range while having it negatively affect the Noise filter while having the Tone Bend affected by the last 50% of velocity. Hopefully this makes sense, if not, I'll draw you a picture.

I think the velocity scaling and element start time will open the ND to more possibilities.

That's all for now.
Ed
