Nord Stage 2

Post by lookeastlive »

Hello! Nord fans, need your advise on which NS2 to get Weighted 76 or Sky fall semi weighted 76- concerned about the sound differences. I almost crushed my fingers on Kurzweil 88 playing organ patches.
I also hand bass - do they have bass patches available for download?

Thank you.

If you focus mostly on organs AND/OR need the lightest keyboard possible, then go for Semi Weighted.

If playing pianos is more important, then get the Weighted.

This has been discussed a lot of times in the forum and the general concensus is to get the NS2 SW because of portability in conjunction with a weighted keyboard controller (such as a Casio Privia or something Studiologic).

What kind of bass sounds are you after? there are some great synth sounds, you could make a B3 bass with no problem and the single-layer electric bass and acoustic bass samples are quite good.

Saludos,
Gustavo

Thank you, good to know it comes with bass patches - I like playing both piano & organ sounds. Will the piano sounds better using weighted compared to the SW? by the way Wow!! on your gear!! Great help, Thanks again. Hear from you soon.

The sounds are exactly the same on all NS2. The audience will not know any difference. However, because of the different keyboards there's a chance that you might feel like they sound different, this is one of the reasons many people get an extra, weighted, board.

I've had a NSEX 73 keys waterfall and now I have a NS2 76 Weighted. To the sounds of piano dynamics is another, much better, but end up hurting my hands on organ sounds. Honestly, think about going back to the 73.

You can add midi keyboard 61 keys for play organ sounds.

I've had a 65 for this, but I believe the grace of NS is practicality. When I did not have a nord, carrying a three keyboards for the shows, now, today, one, and happy ...

But what would be a good controller of 61 waterfall keys?

Maybe the Studiologic VMK-161 Plus Organ?

It has the Fatar waterfall keybed and is programable, so you should be able to get the 9 sliders to function as drawbars. There's also a VMK-161 Plus (without the Organ in the name), which is the same thing but with synth-style keys.

I had the same question when i wanted to buy a Stage 2.

I chose for the HA88 becuz i not only need organ, but i need everything in my band.
In the beginning it was hard to get used to the action but after a few weeks/months,
my hands and fingers got used to the keybed...

I just LOVE the weighted keys for playing piano, clavinet, DX,...
