Stage Classic vs NS2 ?? (Help please)

Post by monsterjazzlicks »

Hi folks,

i was thinking of maybe upgrading my Nord Stage to a Nord Stage 2 because i have had it nearly 3 x years now and feel i am outgrowing it, and also it has certain limitations. However, i have spent a very long time programing it (esp. the External Section) to get it as customized as i can.

What i wanted to know (firstly) please is :-

i have saved lots of different set-ups (21 x Banks of 6 x Presets containing my own Programs) which took me a very long time to do. And these are obviously stored on my PC. But would i be able to LOAD these onto a Nord Stage 2 ?? Or would i have to start again from scratch ??

Best,

Paul

Hi Paul no you won't be able to load NS programs on NS2, sorry.

When I did the same upgrade I saved my most critical NS patches using the CTRL program (see the post about it in this forum) but had to convert them manually to NS2

Just out of curiosity I looked at the prices of NS2 and came across this one (with free case):

The price (£2199) is less than quoted elsewhere... but wait... this other one, without the "free" case it is more expensive ??! :

Well, if you show the seller that price *with* the soft bag, you have a start point for asking a further discount ;)

Mr G,

What will determine whether i upgrade or not is if i can get all my Presest programing to transfer from my Stage Classic to the NS2.

Yes, I understand. Transferring all those banks by hand will probably be a pain...

i don't at all mind dumping them over one by one (if thats what you have to do). But if they wont work AT ALL then that is going to be a real drag :(

Bad news - there's no way to load Stage data into a Stage 2 - they're completely different. When Mr_-G- said "manually", he meant re-creating them from scratch by hand on your new machine. And that's assuming your can afford to buy a new one before having to sell the old one.

Often when you upgrade or change your keyboards, you just have to accept that a lot of your old programming is going to go the way of VHS and cassettes... Console yourself with the thought of all the lovely new interesting things you will be able to create with your new gear. :)
