... sorry! I'm trying to be funny and bragging at the same time. MSc EE stands for "master of science in electrical engineering". But the truth is that I have been unemployed for 2.5 years. No money, but a very nice diploma to look at ... and I have my NORDs!
But this business with the modified fuse holder is very ugly and makes me ashamed of being a Swedish engineer.

I'm convinced this has nothing to do with Clavia; if I had a company and ever found out one of my employees had been creative in such a way, I'd kick the guy out on the street before he would be able to come up with an excuse.
I'm sure some in Malaysia got creative. I'm not surprised. nor can I blame them. Pay peanuts, get monkeys. I'm not trying to say anything about Asians in general or about the amount Florian paid, but I'm trying to make a statement about 'us westerners' who want to pay $2 for a USB power supply on eBay (including shipping) and then gripe about the horrible build quality of the electronics inside. Oh, wait, that was me.
Anyway, it looks like an easy fix, if Florian can get hold of the same type of fuse holder. Cut that jumper link, and put in the new fuse holder and fuse.
Wow, someone went to a lot of trouble to "cure" a missing fuse/cap.
Marlowes, no disrespect, but I agree with MJ that you jumped to the wrong conclusion prematurely. Clearly the unit did not leave Stockholm in that condition and that jumper was added by some anonymous 3rd party, most probably the seller. Given the longstanding reputation of Swedish engineering (Saab, Volvo, Nord...I won't mention those I@#% folks), I would think that being a Swedish engineer should never be a cause for shame.
Anyway, if the worst thing Florian has to deal with is removing that jumper and replacing fuse and cap, that's not too bad. Hopefully the temporary absence of a fuse did not lead to component damage anywhere and the peculiar behavior noted will not return....

Clavia responded very fast and explained that they never ship any units with such an idiotic modification.
Today someone who once worked for the malaysian company said that an engineer in singapore did the mod because of the missing fuse/fuseholder...
I've found this related thread (http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-29716.htmls) on converting from 115v-230v power input and vice versa on the leads. I have a lead 2x and am looking to go from UK to US power (230v to 115v). I'm glad I don't have to re-solder anything as there is a switch in the 2x, but I need to buy the appropriate fuse, which is something know nothing about. Will this fuse (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index ... lue=0.1-1A) work?
I think you need a "T"-type fuse (for "time delay", also called "slow blow" or "anti-surge"). The ones showed above do not seem to be "T" and will blow easily. I do not have a Lead2x to check, so I can't comment on the mA value that you need.
