Hello boys! I have this problem. I tried a common pedal but it does not works and I'll buy a pedal recommended by Nord. But which one to choose: Roland Ev-5 or Yamaha Fc-7?!

I have a 30 year old FC-7 that still works perfectly. Great pedal, well made.

+1 on the FC7, much better build quality IMHO. ONly advantage of the Roland is the weight IMHO.

Re: Expression Pedal: Ev-5 or Fc-7?!
I currently use a Boss Fv-500l. It requires a TRS cable to use it as an expression pedal.
This question seems to come up occasionally. Usually the Yamaha is recommended over the Roland.
I have both. I find the Roland is too light and will fall over & doesn't provide adequate resistance when in use.
I use mine only occasionally for rehearsal.

Re: Expression Pedal: Ev-5 or Fc-7?!
I use an EV-5, however the cable is fraying at the pedal end, exposing some wire. If I cannot fix it, I'll probably consider an FC-7...although I wonder if it will still fit in the gigbag's front pocket with the power cable, Korg sustain pedal, and Kawai switch pedal?

My mind says Kawai, but my heart says Nord.

Re: Expression Pedal: Ev-5 or Fc-7?!
I found that my Moogerfooger MP201 Multipedal works just fine with my Electro 3 HP on the P2 (EV-7) setting. I tested all the other control pedal settings and P2 worked best. The MP201 Multipedal is nice because it allows one to control up to four devices with one pedal. Also, I had to use a TRS patch cord to get it to work even though the MP201 pedal manual calls for the use of a regular TS cable. The Nord manual calls for the use of the TRS cable.

Re: Expression Pedal: Ev-5 or Fc-7?!
I have one of each, and prefer the FC-7 over the EV-5. The Roland is smaller and lighter, but much less expressive and the smaller travel forces you to be more conscious about it while playing. On certain floor surfaces, the lightness is actually a drawback, as it will slide a bit easier than the FC-7.
The Roland is also overpriced. I consider the FC-7 a bargain and will probably buy another one in the near future.

Re: Expression Pedal: Ev-5 or Fc-7?!
I bought an EV-5 in a rush because I needed a control pedal on a short notice. I could not find anything else in the local shops and could not wait for delivery. The EV-5 is OK-ish (feels very plasticky
) and thinking about it, an FC-7 might be a better, more durable alternative (at a similar price). One good (minor) thing of the EV-5 is that the plug is angled and has a low profile while the FC-7 is straight and sticks out when connected to the instrument. I am getting concerned by a few reports of people breaking the jack connectors at the back (and potentially damaging the circuit board by inadvertently pushing inserted straight plugs sideways. I think angled plugs might help prevent this as they would stick out less.
There is very little to these pedals, so they are truly expensive for what they do: just 2 potentiometers, one for the offset and one for the controlling. I guess that there is no need to spend a fortune, for example the EV-7 seems ridiculously expensive to me... at about 3 times the price of the EV-5 for just a bit more of tilt.
@ Cute James: rather than throwing it away, just replace the whole cable or add a stereo connector so it can be used with any stereo TS cable.
