So did you make a decision in the end? What did you buy?

Yes I did! I found someone near me that has a Nord Piano and he offered to let me come by and check it out. The keybed noise wasn't nearly as offensive as I expected it to be and the sound was just beautiful. I was impressed with the sound from the Roland but once I actually had a chance to hear the Nord sounds in person, I was in awe. It's incredible. I also preferred the feel of the NP to the RD700-NX (which, for me, felt too heavy). So, long story short, I placed an order for the Nord Piano 2! Sadly, I'm told that it will probably be sometime in April before it arrives but I have no doubt that it will be worth the wait. Thanks again to all of you guys for the input and suggestions. I really do appreciate it!

Congratulations on your NP2! Somebody told me when I bought my NP that it will grow on me like crazy.

So now I'm telling you: it will grow on you like crazy!

Enjoy! :)

Hello everyone, I am new here to the forum. Having played the rd700-nx for a while now I like the action but in terms of sound the nord is the winner hands down imo. I just recently purchased a new in box clavia nord piano 88 for $1800.00 and no it does not have as many bells and whistles as the roland, but this thing is in another world when compared to the roland for ap sounds.

I seriously think that Clavia should read this thread very carefully: so many people praise Clavia for their sound, but same people would like them to improve their piano action. Come on, we have Nord PIANO here. Why it cannot be the best piano also in terms of keybed? Ok, I well know that Clavia does not manufacture their keybeds, but is this Fatar (?) really the best one they can have? Maybe it is. Rolands, Kawais and Yamahas have a long history of making stage pianos and at least those latter two take benefit of their acoustic piano production when they make digital ones. Still I would question that is THIS (what we have now) the best Clavia can give us...

P.S. If nothing else, just give more options for velocity adjustment! (Yes I know, I repeat myself...)

Not only that, but instead of improving the keybed or even adding more memory for the Nord Piano 2, they've turned it into a Piano/Stage hybrid pretty much nodoby wants :(

I'm not disagreeing, I just wonder how much of a choice they have when it comes to their keybed supplier. I'm sure the "big three" wouldn't sell their actions to a small but serious competitor, and apparently, Fatar is the only independent keybed manufacturer.

Has anyone noticed Roland are bringing out an A-88 keyboard in Nov. 2012 ?

This could be a solution. http://www.dv247.com/computer-hardware/ ... rd--101537
