Nord Grand left channel dead fix, cracked resistor

Post by Riekus »

Hello all,

Just wanted to share my bit.

The left channel output of my Grand was dead for I don't know how long but I always used the headphone output.
However I felt the need to fix the left channel, and I did yesterday (18/4/2026).
Using a headphone amp as an audio signal tracer I was able to locate the fault: A cracked SMD resistor R81 (4.7kOhm, probably size 0805)
I replaced it with a 1206 size (little bigger than 0805) 4.7kOhm thick film resistor because I did not have anything else around. Thin film type would be slightly better for noise reasons but the main thing is that my piano is fixed :-)

If you look carefully at the photo you can see that there 's a chip off the resistor and there is a crack that starts at the middle zero of the 4700.

Hope I can help someone who has a similar issue.

Best regards,

Riekus
