Loud key
I just got a new hammer action electro 6 and the g3 note is considerably louder than the others, even when hit softly. This is just a dust in the sensor issue right? How do I fix it? Much thanks!

Re: Loud key
Usually, you aren't meant to fix what's under warranty. Why not send it back and get it exchanged or fixed?

Re: Loud key
Based on the behaviour, it's most likely dust on the sensor of that key.
It's quite easy to fix (if you're comfortable with DIY fixes), but it'll take some time. You'll have to open the unit, and this will of course have impact on your warranty.
This video gives some insight in how to open the Electro 6:
This video shows how to open a unit and also dismantle the keys in order to get to the rubber contacts:
Even though the video is quite old, the technique is the same.

Re: Loud key
I opened it up with intent to clean it, and I tried for a couple hours to lift up the keys to gain access to the sensors, but I couldn't figure it out! How do I get to the sensors specifically on the electro 6HP? Its a lot different from models on other videos.

Re: Loud key
The print plate under the keys is covered with a contact-strip that gets in contact with the sensor when a key is pressed:
As you see on the picture, it seems that you'll need to lift off the keys in order to reach the contact-strip that are placed over the sensors.
If you take a look at this video, you'll see how to dismantle the keys on a HP keyboard. The video only shows how to loosen the white keys, so you'll have to figure out how to deal with the black keys. It shouldn't be much more difficult than with the white keys. Start from 2:40:
I haven't repaired a HP action keyboard myself, so this is only to point you in a direction if you decide to to fix it by yourself.
I've dismantled many keyboards through the years, and fortunately I've never broken anything. But be aware that it's very easy to break some plastic parts, ore miss a cable or a contact. Take your time, and dont't rush into something.
