Removable program list
I have an Electro 6 and a Stage 4, and I'm frustrated in having to pick what pre-loaded sounds and programs I should remove in order to add new. I understand that once removed they are still available online but I'm wondering if anyone has a list of pre-loaded sounds/programs I can remove to give me more memory? Our band plays mostly 70's rock such as Deep Purple, Montrose, Judas Priest etc. It seems that when I remove a sound, it's needed in a program I use.

Re: Removable program list
That’s very much a personal decision and it’s pretty easy to hook up the Nord Sound Manager and start first with looking into the sample library for “unused” next to the sample which should be a fair amount of them, delete those unless it looks like a sample of interest. That will free up some memory. Then sort the samples by size and delete larger samples that look obscure and not needed such as exotic percussion, orchestral chimes, clarinet, oboe, etc.
You can do the same in the piano section.
Before or after this you can scroll through each program to try it out and see if you want to keep it. If not, delete it.
This type of approach has been helpful to me.

Re: Removable program list
Aside from testing all the programs, you might want to save a list of all programs via NSM (menu), save them per bank and then start to delete them.
For Stage 4, it may be useful to keep the presets.
Otherwise: indeed very personal thing. Some even erase all programs. I should have done so, too. I haven't really used one of the factory programs in 5 years - neither for playing nor as a starting point for my own sound. Just had a look through them, and that was it.

Re: Removable program list
Reading this I am afraid that when saying "sounds" you are mixing (confusing) 2 different things, Programs with Samples.paulberg wrote: 18 Mar 2026, 20:08 It seems that when I remove a sound, it's needed in a program I use.
To check if a Piano or Synth Sample is not in use you have to use Nord sound Manager and look if the note on the side on each sample says it is not used in any Program + you can use the Substitute function to replace it with a different sample in all Programs currently using it.
With Programs instead you are free to delete any of them and no other Program will ever be affected.
