What piano sample is this?

Post by Latebloomer »

I think this piano sounds soooo good.. just love it.
I know much of it lays in the hands of this amazing player... But anyway, could anybody point out which of the sounds in the Nord Piano Library he is using?

Watch the solo at 47 min. It is so well performed and I just love how good it sounds

Don't know which sample, but he's playing on a Stage 2, so limited to what ever samples are installable on that version of the keyboard.
Current Gear: NS3C, NP5-88, NP5-73, Alesis QS7.1 & QS8.2, Hammond B3 with Leslie 122, Yamaha CP70, Yamaha C3 6' Grand, Roland D-05

He's playing a highly compressed Nord white Grand with high eq ... but out through a Roland Jazz Chrous JC120 amp (into stereo mics).

It's a basically what many 1970s keys players did ie. hunt for and create a "unique sound" to set themselves apart and be interesting. Best example of this idea is a Wurlitzer ep200 through an early Fender twin reverb, with half the signal compressed and through a 1976 Boss CE-1 guitar footpedal (utilising the same chip as in the Rolnd Amp)... achieving that amazing Supertramp sound.

i saw the Roland JC and the mic as well, but there are also two direct boxes on top left of the JC. I don’t know what the mics on stage are being used for, but pretty sure what you are hearing in the recording is not coming from the amp. same thing with the guitar amp and mic.

I highly doubt this is going through the amp. I guess that is for the clav and ep sounds he is playing on the other Nord.
