Can I get octave up/down to work on MIDI out on Lead4?

Post by jmkvalsund »

Hi,
I'm trying to use a Lead 4 as master keyboard for a bass VST, but it seems that the octave down/buttons doesnt affect which note is sent on MIDI out? Seems it goes from C2 to C6 no matter which octave I select on the buttons. Is this MIDI standard? Or is it Nord MIDI standard?

Regards,
John Martin

That's normal, the octave up/down affects the sound engine, not the keyboard and its MIDI data (and this is the same on all boards, not just on NL4).

Based on this principle, you need to do the same on an the external synth (hardware or software) i.e. if you need to play a lower octave you change the octave on the sound engine (MIDI receiving side)

On older Leads there was the "Global octave" mode that you entered by pressing both Octave buttons at the same time, and gave you Octave shift control over MIDI. Don't know if it still works the same on the Lead4

I didn't know and guess what: it is there on NL4 too (and even written on the panel)...

@jmkvalsund: NL4 manual is your friend and is waiting for you...

Thanks a lot @Spider, actually it says "Global oct shift" on my Lead 4, I just didn't get it! And it works...
I think I'll better have to download a manual again. I keep saying you dont need that on Nord keyboards, its all written on the panels. No use if I don't read that either :D
Thanks again!
