If someone still has this question, the led next to keep edits is actually the waveform pannel led. Every time waveform pannel is active, it will turn on, regardless of the keep edits and keep edits will do its thing only while the waveform button is held. So, the led is just an indicator of the section of the synth the synth screen is showing.
