Faulty sound output

Post by PaulCrowther14 »

Hi Nord users,

My Nord Electro 4 HP has recently developed a worrying fault and I'm trying to find out if I can fix it at home without needing to take it to a specialist vendor for a service. On anything other than a quiet volume the sound output has become delayed and spluttery, which has rendered the thing practically unplayable. I have it rigged up to a 2-set PA but that doesn't seem to be the source of the issue. I have also just updated the OS and done a full factory reset, but that hasn't solved the problem either. Has anyone here encountered this kind of problem before and might anyone know how to fix it?

Many thanks!

Paul

Welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear about your problem.

Do you notice any other symptoms like dimming of the LEDs or screen when the problem occurs?
Does the same problem occur if listening on headphones?

Given the behavior you described, I think this is either a hardware problem with a power supply in the Nord, or a DAC problem.

Quick test: can you replicate the problem using headphones directly attached to your keyboard? That way, you can be sure it's the keyboard and not something external.
I think I have gear issues ....

The problem doesn't seem to occurr when I use headphones, which might suggest that it is the PA after all. I'll borrow another amp to see.
