I could not give two hoots about the pitch/mod situation
but I bet adding the pitch/mod controls gets them more sales than if they had instead upped that sample memory.

True. The Electro is looking more like a Stage Lite than ever before, so there has to be something additional on the Stage for all the extra moolah. Looks like the design planning for different models is becoming "more" rather than "different." More memory. More layers. Etc.

Which might not be a bad way to go. I'm on record thinking the Stage 4 has limited appeal as a $6000 digital keyboard (yeah, I know you can buy a 73 Compact for $5500, but in the USA after taxes you're almost at 6K there too). People who were hesitant or unable to come up with that kind of money, but still want a Nord that can "do synth," now have an option for $2000 less. That's a significant savings.

BTW I just picked up a used Nord 6D 73 SW for $1800 from Sweetwater's Gear Exchange. I missed my Nord too much! It's coming today.

So I'm BACK. I know, try to contain your enthusiasm.

First order of business will be to download the Astoria and give it a whirl.

Well done! And coupled with the YC 88 it can be a killer-duo (at home)

It just arrived, and so far it's looking great. All original packaging, and he hadn't even opened the bag with the manual and cord. I'm a little surprised I got it for $1800...but then I sold mine last year for $1975, which afterwards I thought was too cheap, so who knows.

It's all factory loaded too. Starting to yank off all those mid-level Rhodes samples to make room, and of course the Felt Upright was the first to go :)

I like not having the pitch/mod because it makes me play a different way. I genuinely would definitely welcome 1GB Sample Memory in place of the former. I think they look utterly grotesque.

Good price for an almost-sparkling unit. Congrats!

New user but long time Nord player. My first Nord was an Electro 3 73. Currently I'm playing an Electro 5D 73. The Electro 7 looks like quite an update for a NE5 user with synth, new organ, more flexible effects. I have some classical piano training but am mainly a guitar player with some keys on the side. I love to play Hammond but rarely do live. The new Kawai HP is very tempting but my Nords so far were 73 SW. What do you guys expect from this board? I'm a big fan of Kawai keybeds. With the older HPs the decision for the SW was easier. What do you NE users prefer when you bring just one board?

Definitely worth waiting for some reviews to hear how the Kawai feels. I too like the Kawai DPs for their keybed feel. With the true synth in the perhaps they go the same route as the Stage regarding action touch weight. The previous Electro HP was notoriously stiff, unlike the Stage HA.
