For those of you who've played big band, this is very sad news. Gordon Goodwin died yesterday from complications due to pancreatic cancer.
The man was the leader of the amazing Big Phat Band, composer and arranger. He wrote songs for Disney and cartoons in his earlier years, and his big band compositions always reflected that sense of whimsy. His stuff is not always easy to play, but always fascinating to listen to.

The man brought good into this world, and will be missed by many.
