Vertical distance between manuals

Post by alexanderlyon »

Hello everyone,

I recently posted about this in the Electro forum, but realized I should ask around here as well!

Can anyone tell me the vertical distance between the tops of the white keys on the upper and lower manuals on a Nord organ (any model)?

I've got a DIY dual-manual home clone that uses an Electro as the upper manual and a Midi controller as the lower manual, and I suspect the distance between the tops of the white keys on the lower manual and the tops of the white keys on the upper manual is a bit bigger than it ought to be for good ergonomics. If I knew the correct distance, I could fiddle with my stand a bit!

Thanks,

AG

I'm also interested in this and also in comparison with Hammond and pipe organs:

I found the same question on another forum for B3, the answer was 2 1/2" (i.e. approx. 63.5 mm).

I measured 61 mm on NORD C2D.

The recommendation for pipe organs is 2 5/8" +- 1/8" (63 - 70 mm).

Oh, that's very helpful--thank you! I'm going to see if I can drill some holes in my stackers to close the distance a bit; if I'm lucky, I might be able to get it down to 70mm or so (which would be much better than the current 100mm).

I measured my organ 3 which arrived today. The height you requested is 6.3mm.

Thank you! This is great; if I’m lucky, I can get within 7 mm or just over a quarter of an inch of that.
