Unwanted popup

Post by Beemer2 »

Today for the first time on opening this forum there was a popup from the bottom inviting me to open a site by showing a partially closed girl. There was a message saying to open it to see her massive.....I did not open it but was unable to delete the popup except by dragging its central arrow downward. Immediately it reappeared. I shut down and reopened the forum but the same popup appeared. I then logged in and the popup has not so far reappeared.
Has the site been compromised?

If you are not logged in, there are some ads. Not from the best selection, it appears.

Hi,

thanks for noting. In the user forum, there should be nothing like that, let alone for members. We DID have a SQL injection attack that I fixed yesterday, could potentially bhave been from that. Just checked and verified that everything is OK so shouldn't happen anymore.

As Fziegler points out for non-logged in visitors there are some ads but no offensive categories.

But I also noted an inrease in attackes (SQL injections, htaccess injections, DDOS) over recent years which are very annoying and time consuming to address. And while we addressed them and in the process I also had to upgrade the server twice to deal with the number of requests.
That being said, we work hard to keep this website up and running and spam free, but it is getting more challenging recently (including posts sometimes with explicit content unfortunately by "dormant", partly former legitimate members, whose passwords have been compromised by leaks in some unrelated databases, so that the accounts have been hijacked (sometimes even posting but clearly (at second sight) AI generated content), and starting to introduce links and images.

In case of recurrent instances of any similar issues, please PM me, best with screen shots!

Thanks a lot!
Johannes
