Nord Grand 2 compatible with...all Nord Piano?
I can't find a definitive answer. Are all Nord Piano 3rd party libraries compatible with Nord Grand 2? Seems like Nord Grand is frequently ignored and I'm thinking it's because it's basically the Nord Piano? Same "engine" in both keyboards (I guess I'm talking about Nord Piano 5 and Grand 2)?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Yes and no. The samples (piano, synth, flute, et. al) will work just fine in most cases, but the programs (as well as third party libraries for other Nord products) will have issues, as the hardware config in the NP5 is a bit different than the NG2.
I think I have gear issues ....

Thanks. I’m looking at sampled instruments. Any clue if something like this would work the grand 2?

The underlying samples will work, but not the presets for the Nord Piano 5 which make use of these samples

Thank you! So do these companies just not make Nord Grand 2 (or even original Grand) sample packs? Seems weird that the instrument is completely ignored...

That site is just a marketplace portal, the "sounds" (Programs) Libraries you see on it are made by various independent Sound Designers, maybe they will convert their libraries to NG2 too if there is a demand (but I see none of previous Nord Piano/Grand has any library available on that site, so..., anyway you may try to write them and ask).firstnorduser wrote: ↑10 Sep 2025, 22:42 Thank you! I think we should clarify terms first to be sure we all talk the same thing here.firstnorduser wrote: ↑10 Sep 2025, 22:42 Thank you! So do these companies just not make Nord Grand 2 (or even original Grand) sample packs? Seems weird that the instrument is completely ignored...
Samples / Sample Packs: you can use any kind of .nsmp and .nsmp3 samples with the sample player of your Nord Grand and Nord Grand 2 as long as there is sufficient free space in the sample memory section. You can find a huge number of such samples from various sources, starting with the Nord sample libraries, samples provided for free by users here in the forum with most of the also available from the Nord User Sound webpage NordUserSounds, or from commercial providers like Synthonia, SC-Sounds or Patch Foundry. Samples can also be created by yourself using the Nord Sample Editor,
Samples for the piano section of the Nord Grand / Grand 2 are available from Nord's Piano Library only, since the format of the piano samples is a secret kept by Nord and not supported by the Nord Sample Editor.
Programs: The Nord Grand / Grand 2 offers 400 program slots for individual programs. Programs make use of samples, can combine for example piano and sample synth samples, add all settings for effects etc. to make them sound as you like. Programs cannot transferred between different types of Nord instruments, not even between different generations of the same Nord instrument class like for example Nord Pianos, Nord Grands, Nord Stages etc. Programs including the samples used with the programs are available from commercial providers for just a part of the Nord product line, I think because of the size of the "installed base" which equals to the potential for making business with them. You will find a lot for the Nord Stage and Nord Electro series, less though for others.
You are mentioning samples / sample packs in your posts but it sounds as if you mean programs instead, is that correct? In that case you would have to find samples which are at least close to the sound you like, then load them onto your Nord Grand and shape them using the available effects and other settings as needed.
