Hk vs Yamaha

Post by Storklund2 »

Hi

I have Yamaha Dxr mkll x2. I feel a ”plonk” when I play piano.
Not a smooth sound.

Now I see a HK Lucas Nano 608i for a great price.
Tried it in a store were it sounds great of course 😀😀

It weighs the same? Its just one unit to carry. It has on board mixer etc.

I’ll will use it mostly as monitor. But in smaller gigs as foh.

Any thoughts? Anyone tried 2.1 system for Nord?

I haven't heard the HK yet, but I can say that I tried out lots of different ones back then because I was never satisfied with the piano sound. Until I heard the FBT maxx2a, which for me had by far the best sound. The maxx2a in particular is no longer available, but I think the successor models are certainly very good too:

I have 6 (!) of the HK Nano 600/602 - this is a Powerhouse! But if I like to have a system with a "near montior effect" these speakers can´t help me. Right beside me, the sound is dull and it feels like less powerfull. 5m away from the stack, you´re blown away with a perfect and rich sound. So to reach / hit an audience, I´ll always choose this system. But for me as keyboard monitoring - sorry: no point. Meanwhile I try to point 4 stacks to the audience and two stacks as sidefill - what is only possible at bigger locations. Then this is a great working system. For smaller ones and only 2 stacks of Nano, I need to use an additional small monitoring solution...
