Issue with Nord Electro 6D right output

Post by DaveMoore »

Hey all,
New to Nord and recently got a electro 6D. Sometimes the unit boots up and the right output does not work at all. This is also the case in headphones only the left ear. I have checked the routing mode in the system menu and it is set to stereo. I have tried unplugging everything but the headphones and still left out only. I have also restored the factory image (Nord Electro 6 Factory Restore Rev E v2.66) and the issue is still there. There is no physical damage that I can see. I don't really know what I am doing so I don't know if something is getting hit or misconfigured that could cause this. It seems to be random, stereo one day and no right output the next. Any Ideas I have also opened a ticket with Nord but seems like that might take a while to resolve with them.
Thanks

Hi and welcome to NUF; have you also tried with headphones unplugged, just to check in case the headphones jack is short circuiting the R channel for some reason?

Yes I have, no change. I didn't think to plug in the headphones until I had been troubleshooting for a bit

And you have no AutoPan active etc... it does so on any Program, right?

Then I'd suggest to contact local (US) Nord service (actually the ticket you opened on Nord website should be routed to the US distributor) and have it checked by a qualified technician

Yeah it looks like that's what I might have to do. They are 2.5 hours away unfortunately but I'll have to bite the bullet

As a last ditch effort, I would try with different headphones and cables before sending the board back.
I think I have gear issues ....

Also some of the 1/8 to 1/4 headphone adaptors have been known to cause problems.
So if you can check with headphones that do not use an adaptor.

Hi and Welcome to the Forum!
In the past many users (including me) found strange audio output behaviours caused by low quality or non-standard adapters or plugs. I agree with these two replies that, if you can, try other known-working cables, adapters, and headphones before sending for service.
