NS4 Re-solder single pedal for tempo tap

Post by uhura »

Hi, I know there have been a few posts about the triple pedal input, but I can't find the info on whether I can re-solder a standard sustain pedal (or another single pedal) to a 6-pin din connector so that I can use it as a tempo tap pedal on the NS4?

In my eyes, the crucial question could be if NS4 can handle 2 sustain pedals - as it of course would consider the 6-pin DIN connector as a triple pedal including sustain, and you'd probably need another sustain pedal for standard use. That's what I'd try out first.

Ah, interesting aspect. I've just ordered a Kawai GFP3 B-Stock for 119 EUR (which according to this forum works for most people), so I can check this out.
I prefer the solution with 2 separate pedals, as I could then place one further to the left, and it would be easier to transport.

I can confirm that the (Kawai) triple pedal works together with a standard sustain pedal. They are both active.

So, if you now have a GFP3 and everything works, you should be able to just measure what happens if any or multiple of those pedals are pressed.

You probably know that you should be able to find out on your own: Just use a multimeter to test the resinstance changes on your GFP-3 when depressing the three pedals. That's probably quicker than waiting for someone who might already have done it.

My God, I'm so blind. Didn't see that I could achieve the same thing with a pedal on the Foot Switch Input.🙈

Sorry, I didn't consult the manual either. That's a function which is new with the NS4.
