Non functional Nord Grand or Stage 2/3 88

Everything about Nord keyboards in general; which one to choose, the sound manager, sample editor, and general discussion about the sample and piano libraries.

Non functional Nord Grand or Stage 2/3 88

Post by bendrdendrowitch »

Hello Nord enthusiasts!
I hope this post doesn't break any forum rules — I'm currently looking for a non functional Nord instrument to use for spare parts. Ideally, a Nord Grand, but Nord Stage 2 or 3 88 would also work.

Until recently, I was performing with a Nord Stage 3 88 and a Nord Electro 6D, but I’ve sold both and upgraded to a Nord Stage 4 Compact for gigs, and a Studiologic SL88 Grand with its excellent keybed for piano parts — which personally suits me perfectly. But surprise! My bandmates have a strong issue with how the Studiologic looks.

So I’ve decided that if I could get my hands on an old, broken, non-functional Nord unit, I could turn it into a good-looking MIDI controller with a bit of tinkering.

If anyone has an old, non-working Nord lying around and wants to get a few bucks out of it, feel free to DM me!

Thanks, and all the best!

it would be a lot less work to just change the color of the SL88.

either paint it or wrap it like they do cars.

Hahaha -- this is essentially my rig. Unfortunately, most of the older Nords with weighted keybeds don't play as well as the more recent models. My NP4 88 is a nice instrument, but its keybed can't hold a candle to my NP6. Same with the NS2EX and NS3 88.

So, yeah, keep the SL88 and think about a red wrap or similar. My bottom board is the NP5 76 which also does double duty for acoustic gigs. Highly recommended :)
I think I have gear issues ....

Thanks for the tip, I've already seen this video. Credit to the guy for how he did it, but personally, I don't like the result so much :?

It definitely would. I've already seen video and Nordine posted it below, where a guy did exactly this - but unfortunately, I'm not too happy with how it looks.

Damn man, that’s a gorgeous rig! My wallet is hoping it doesn’t end up like that :D

What about telling the bandmates that also their guitars, amplifiers and drums don't look so nice actually  and then make the deal to keep all (including the Studiologic) as is? :D
