Choosing Nord Stage 4, help!!

Better on unweighted: organ, synth, horns, flutes, strings, lead solos, pads, etc, -- the lighter action enables a more convincing technique, and it's easier to engage aftertouch for vibrato effects. Piano parts are a disaster

This is a really tough decision, what a headache ( the real problem is, I have only played the piano in term of keyboard instrument in my life and it was weighted key.

I can only imagine playing the unweighted instruments (narrow velocity attack instruments if I were to call) as you mentioned, to me I imagine anything that played with a some dynamics will always benefits with the weighted keys. I wonder if there's a work around option on the stage 4 to enable trigger point for synth(I heard it is on the Organ section) With that one, maybe it will suffice the solo part and stuff.


Additional question, can I set the vibrato to a pedal instead of using the aftertouch?

The high trigger point eliminates ALL dynamics, so is not necessarily desirable for synths, though it depends on what you're going for. For me, synth is generally fine on either hammer or non-hammer actions. Hammer actions give you better control over dynamics as you suggested, non-hammer actions give you more speed. At any rate, the Nord provides that option only for organ.
