Picky TRS-Expression/Control-Jack on NS4?

Post by glombi »

Hi!

I built two pedal boards (sustain, foot-switch, expression), one for home use, one for the rehearsal space and gigs.

I have no issues with the expression pedal on my first board, where I use a very cheap cable. It's plug and play and always works.

With the second board I had issues with the first cable, which was DIY with good Neutrik TRS-plugs. So I ordered another no-name cable from amazon. The same issue. I have to plug in the TRS expression plug several times, until it works. I noticed that it's more likely to work, the softer I insert the plug.

Is this a known issue? Any TRS plugs recommended to work the best? Any other solution/fix?

Yesterday I had this issue at a gig, and only noticed during sound-check a few minutes before the gig started...

Regards,

yes, the new jacks, and I've had mine more than a year, still give me problems. I usually have to work them in and out a couple times each day before they see the pedal properly. They are super tight. Way tighter than the previous 18 years worth of Stage keyboards.

I happened to have an issue like this some years ago after I bought some cheap thomann own brand cables. After a bit of testing it seemed as if the plug itself, i. e. the whole metal part, might be a portion of a millimeter thinner which then caused the interruptive work. Since then I buy Cordial cables with no problem anymore.

If this could be of any help …

Cheers from the middle of Germany
