Re: Triple pedal broken

Has anyone been able to buy replacements for the four contact strips in the Triple Pedal (TP1)?

My sustain pedal was acting intermittently when fully pressed. A quick check with an ohmmeter showed that while the first three resistances were
OK, the fourth resistance (fully pressed) was not 500 ohms. I dissected the unit and found that the two contact strips for the sustain pedal were pretty glazed over. I cleaned everything and swapped the two sustain strips with the soft and sostenuto strips.

Everything works fine, but given my history with contact strips (I recently replaced all of the keyboard strips in my NP4), I thought I might pick up
some spares for the pedal. Unfortunately, it looks like the strips are somewhat odd in that all four pegs on each contact strip are equal in size. Most of the strips I have seen have two large and two small pegs.

Hi. It seems to me that they are not the same length... check the ones on the right in the photos linked below (6th and 7th), seem to be slightly deeper:

You could try getting some kind of conductive paint and retouch the contacts on the silicone side.
There are also repair kits for TV remotes that come with small conductive disk stickers to replace worn contacts, but never tried that (the thickness of the disk might too thick and make the distance shorter, they might become detached and other types of annoyance).
Hope it helps.

As far as I can tell, the four posts on each contact unit are the same length and the same diameter. It is only the diameter that matters. Just to be clear, I am talking about the four little posts that poke through the holes in the board to hold the piece down. I'm not talking about the two actual posts with carbon pads inside a strip that make the electrical contact - these obviously have different lengths. Normally, that's how velocity sensing works, but in the case of the NP1 sustain pedal, there are two contact strips yielding a total of four different electrical contacts that can be made when pressing the pedal (yielding four different resistances that Nord uses to detect how far the sustain pedal has been pressed). The same two-contact strips are used for the soft and sostenuto pedals, but in those cases, both contacts are doubled up so it doesn't matter which order the pedal press forces the contacts (or even if only one does).

As I said earlier, I swapped the two sustain strips with the sostenuto and soft strips. Since I don't think I've probably pressed those latter two pedals more than a dozen times, they were pristine and fixed any sustain pedal problems I had. Still, I would like to know where to buy such strips.

OK, now I understand that you were not talking about the contacts themselves, but those little pins/posts that keep the bubble in place.
Sorry about the confusion.
