I just got an Electro 2 for the organ sounds in a live situation. I was looking for something better than my Korg (it is) and lighter (it is ).
I love the sounds and the action.
The organ sounds are great but the piano samples are all messed up. Actually they sound like they are polluted with some of the modulation sounds.
Soo.. I started to investigate how to fix that and here I am. I actually have a working 32 bit Win 7 machine that runs the software OK but I am unable to get the 32 Win 7 machine to recognize the Nord as a working USB device. I've tried the 32 bit versions on the wayback machine and the closest I have got so far is / the device shows up as a Nord product but "wont start". I think If I could get USB recognition I could likely reload the samples per the instructions. (This could be wishful thinking but whatever.)
The usb drivers I have tried are the 3. & 4. versions. The 2.16 driver file I got is incomplete and lacks an installer.
I'm not sure that this was the driver that ended up loading because I have been through so many iterations.
The key to getting it to work was to use the win7 wizard to add the USB driver and point it to an extracted driver "piece". A 2kb file named electro - setup information and a 34kb electro.sys file
Sorry, I can't remember which of the 6 driver versions these files came from but this might help somebody.
First prize is a Nord Electro2 that has piano sounds that are just as mediocre as they sounded in 2010!
Did you give the additional piano samples on the previous page of this thread a try? Probably not earth-shattering, but should be an improvement over the stock piano.

Guys,
Are there any newer acoustic piano samples I can load on a Nord Electro 2? Even mono samples might be better than what came w/ this board???
Jeff
What you find in this thread (page 2) is what you can get, Electro 2 does not support anything else.

Thank you for the help. It is much appreciated.
I am still struggling to get clean piano sounds.
I downloaded the alt piano voices and I will first try loading the alt voices to see if the problem of effects pollution goes away.
If that fails to resolve the issue I have a recording interface with midi that installed in 32bit Win7 (Thanks Uli, Berringer can be counted on at least for broad driver compatibility ) I am going to try and reload/reset or upgrade the firmware which I hope doesn't brick the unit.
Currently, after successfully reloading the 3.04 firmware and reloading the piano samples several times I still have an awesome Electro2
Organ with effects polluted piano samples.
I would appreciate any ideas on how to correct this condition.
In the meantime, I will enjoy my lightweight but excellent portable organ on this year's gigs.
