NS3 - play octave from one key?

Post by jim88 »

Trying to build a patch for Don't Bring Me Down and I want my left hand to play octave single synth notes to free my right hand for chords

I know I could do this with synth in 2 panels one octave apart, but I can't spare another synth - need it for phasers & claps

Is there a way for NS3 to play two notes (an octave in my case) in the same panel?

You can do this by adding another oscillator. On the synth waveform your are using, select the Fade setting while holding down shift using the Osc 2 Pitch control and you can dial in the waveform type and choose an octave above or below the note you are playing.

Thanks DJKeys!

I might need a bit more help with that suggestion...

I'm trying to duplicate the "Superdrive" synth preset 1 octave below, which I think uses Super Wave Saw 2.

When I hold Shift and dial OSC 2 PITCH, I get some wave forms in OSC 2 but not Super Wave Saw 2. And xFade only appears if a change OSC 1 to Classic, Wave or Formant.

Am I doing something wrong? Maybe this won't work for Super waves?

There are limitations on the two oscillator configurations. Just use the Saw wave with the Super Saw and you should be fine. Dial in the amount you want for the octave above or below (Sub)
