S4 HA w/OS 1.46 Half Moon Now Selectable
I upgraded to OS 1.46 and discovered a Half Moon selection now exists in the Pedal Menu for the S4 HA.
I got the switch from ebay; nice 3d printed case with a Nordlike profile
The switch has a rt angle 1/4" TRS on it.
The left switch position gives you Slow and both the Middle and Right positions give you Fast. There is no stop position unless activated from the keyboard.
Still not bad if you're hankering for a half moon.
I tried various combos using clip leads and a TRS plug and no wiring configuration would give me Stop.
Temporary low-rent gaff tape mount for now.

Hi,
the Halfmoon should be wired like this to have Slow-Stop-Fast available, as far as I know.
I suggest you check if your’s is made correctly:

I checked the switch with a meter and it is wired correctly; typical of Nord, Hammond and Neo Ventilator.
No connection = Stop,
Tip to Sleeve = Slow,
Ring to Sleeve = Fast.
The S4 HA w/OS 1.46, Pedal Menu Moon selected and Function at Rotor Hold operates as Tip to Sleeve Slow and NC Fast.
Here are some pictures showing the connections to a meter -- 1 is open and 0 is continuity in case anyone is cornfused

Re: S4 HA w/OS 1.46 Half Moon Now Selectable
I have the same issue. I contacted Nord, they referred me to the reseller in my location which did nothing
.
I am almost 100% sure this is a software bug.
Maybe you can open a case with Nord and reference my case...
Tell them it is the same case opened for serial number ending with 134. (they didn't share a case number).
This is the case description:
When setting Rotor Pedal to Half Moon, the display correctly presents the switch location (left, middle, right). However, when the switch is in the left OR middle position, the speed is slow, whereas the expected behavior is that the middle position will be Stop Mode. Right position is Fast. This is OK.
To sum: when half moon switch is in the middle position, the rotor is not in stop mode.
Thanks!

Re: S4 HA w/OS 1.46 Half Moon Now Selectable
To review . . . . . With my switch, which is correctly wired (see my photos wDVM above) and connected to the rotor pedal input, where pedal settings menu shows: Rotor Pedal Type / Half Moon, and Func / Rotor Hold ...... my switch works as Left Position / Slow and Middle & Right are both Fast.
I also used a TRS plug and clip leads and found no combination that would give stop.
My guess is that this can be fixed with a new OS revision, unless the Rotor Pedal Input connector on the hammer action Stage 4 is a TS and not TRS.

Why I'm almost sure this is a software bug:
* Go to Pedal settings (shift + Program 6) - screen 5/7
* There are 3 squares that shows the half-moon position (left, middle, right)
* These change correctly according to the switch position
* Yet, the rotary speaker does not go to STOP MODE

Re: S4 HA w/OS 1.46 Half Moon Now Selectable
my S4HA73 shows a single box on Screen 5/7 -- see fotos
When the Half Moon Switch is Left/Chorale/Slow -- the single indicator Box on on the LCD (5/7) is unfilled and the speed control light on the keyboard shows Green/Slow and the keyboard's Leslie effect is Slow.
When the Half Moon Switch is Right/Tremolo/Fast -- the single indicator Box on on the LCD (5/7) is filled in and the speed control light on the keyboard shows Red/Fast. And the middle position, normally Stop, is Fast and the 5/7 LCD remains filled in.

You have the Stage 4 Hammer Action 73, not the NS4 Compact - right?

Re: S4 HA w/OS 1.46 Half Moon Now Selectable
That is correct.
I have S4 Hammer Action 73 , OS 1.46 and Half Moon that operates identically to Nord branded Half Moon. I get Chorale (Left) & Tremolo (Right and Center) and no center Stop ... not terrible, and it would be nice if Nord offered an OS update to correct this.

Re: S4 HA w/OS 1.46 Half Moon Now Selectable
I was asking because the manual states that the “Half Moon Switch” menu option is available for the NS4 Compact only.
It’s weird that you can select it, might be that the bug is that it shows up at all but the function itself is ignored because it’s not a Compact
