Replace electro 5HP keybed 73
Is it possible to replace the E5 HP 73 keybed? What would it cost? Is it ez to do at home? I still love this board, but the keybed touch is gone. All notes still function and totally usable, but way too loose and extremely noisy also after years of heavy use. ( always has been a noisy keybed. ) thanks.

A bit disappointed no one has commented on this question. Has anybody restored or upgraded an electro 5 hp 73 keybed? My board has lost action and is incredibly noisy.

Re: Replace electro 5HP keybed 73
Well... I guess this a possible - but not so common - issue, that not so many users can report of... I had a failed Key on my brandnew NS4-73HP myself, but the Dealer replaced the whole Keyboard... With that it seems to me, that my NE6 (not HP) had stronger springs than my former NE5... Strange... Having a ~5000€ NordStage4 under my hands, I already thought about what to do, if the Hammer-Action will fail one day... My Solution would be trying to repair a single Hammer, but with ore than one (and in the end prefered anyway) searching for a whole Keybed to replace via my local Nord Dealer... But fortunately this is just my Plan for the worst case and I had no idea about cost or effort... But I guess the purchase would be much more difficult than the mounting / replacing... It depends all to a service oriented Dealer, that gets you the part...

Re: Replace electro 5HP keybed 73
Thanks for responding @M_a_c. I have found many related posts regarding this issue. I was hoping I could buy a Fatar TP110 or Tp100 keybed and pop it in myself. But it sounds like Nord specific calibration is required and it’s not clear to me yet which part or both would work. I believe the original is a tp100 and fatar has a newer Tp110 which some say has better action. . I still may just take it to a Nord certified service center if i can figure it out, but my nearest service spot wants to hold it for 10 weeks.. I can’t wait that long unless i invest in another board. The portability, gig ability and sound of the electro hp can’t be beat IMHO. I’m still digging to decide what to do..

Re: Replace electro 5HP keybed 73
I´m sure, that the Fatar Keybed had been modified and you´re right - the Nord Calibration would miss / fail... And there we unfortunately come to the point, where you need to mention to buy an used unit instead of going the hard way to get an official Nord-Repair... As the price just for the Side-Panels is massive, a keyboard replace will surely cost "money"... Sorry...
... in the end it all depends to the service orientation of you Nord-Dealer...

Re: Replace electro 5HP keybed 73
Syntaur appears to have what you might need for $549, but I'd give them a call first. Non-returnable, special order.

If it were me, I'd put that money towards finding a good keyboard tech and seeing what they can do with it.

Re: Replace electro 5HP keybed 73
I had keybed noise issues with a used electro 6HP that I bought a few months ago. The keys would clack when lightly tapped and make a loud thump when released quickly. I’ve seen some improvement after replacing the felt that the keys rest on (https://www.syntaur.com/Part-3475-Keybe ... e-keyboard) to address the thump and popping off each key and then reattaching it seems to have taken care of the the clack. From what I understand the 5HP uses the same keybed as the 6HP, so those steps might help your noise issue.
You might be able to address the action with lubrication, but I’ve never messed with that.

Re: Replace electro 5HP keybed 73
I ended up buying the replacement Keybed from Syntaur. I called to make sure it was a drop in. Very helpful folks there. It was very simple to replace. Lots of screws to remove/replace that attach the keybed to the chassis. A couple of ribbon cables to attach the Keybed to the main circuit board in the chassis. Another small connector, likely power. I had to disconnect control panel (lid) connector also. All very obvious and simple. I’m very happy. It’s like a having a new keyboard. I do think it would be fairly ez to rebuild if you have patience. There are felts and a lube/grease that was likely depleted after 8 years of heavy use. Parts for broken keys are available also at Syntaur. 5 bills is a lot but considering that I still love the sounds and nothing is better for what I do, this was worth it to me…. the 5HP still wins! I rely on the piano, vintage keys and of course the organ. I found a YouTube vid that was very helpful that showed a 4HP tear down. The 6HP is just not enough of a step up to consider buying. Thanks.
