RE: Wave 2 Sound Sets?

Post by monsterjazzlicks »

Hi folks,

Does anyone know, please, if the brass patch Matthew Whitaker is using here is a factory preset, or else his own self-creation? I did try and zoom-in on the display LED but to no avail.

Many thanks in advance.

Best,

Paul David Seaman

... perhaps someone with a W2 might be kind enough to scan through their factory preset list, please? THANKS!

I am friends with him and know this is a custom patch. But he typically just layers/splits a few samples and has a few morphs set up, this patch can certainly be re-created on a Wave 2 with the factory samples. If I remember correctly it was some combination of the newer brass samples (pop3 and/or 4, or horn section funk) and some synth brass mixed together.

Hi tsss27,

Wow, that's so amazing you know Matthew! Thanks a lot for sharing. I would say that out of all of the Nord demonstrators he's my favourite for sure - and I'd guess many players would be in agreeance with me here.

So, from what you're sayin' on the Wave 2 you can have two samples loaded at once? Or do you mean it's a synth sound combined with a sampled sound, please?

With the utmost greatest respect, I wanted you ask you, please: is Matthew blind? It appears to be the case but I did not want to assume and, elsewhere online, I did not want to ask the question incase it was deemed disrespectful.

Best,

Paul

You can have up to 4 samples loaded at once. In this case it is at least one of the brass samples mentioned above and at least one analog synth brass (probably a preset analog patch.) Again, there may be more than 2 elements, but if there are, they would be variations on the same theme. I am sure I could recreate it easily. You can make some very powerful and complex sounds on this synth with up to 4 layers active at once!

Yes he is, since birth. That information is certainly easy to find online, and he's very open about it so there is nothing to be afraid of! I don't think he minds answering questions at all.

Thanks very much indeed tsss27,

As I'm sure a lot of viewers would agree, there is certainly a rather heavy Stevie Wonder aesthetic quality about Matthew. I'm certain he surely is musically influenced by SW also - who isn't?! Again, it's incredible that you actually know him.

I'm amazed to hear that, on the Wave 2, you can have up to four samples selected at one time. I truly did not expect the unit to have that facility.
