After triple pedal How many more pedals?
Still bedding in with the Nord S4. I have rigged up a triple-pedal with my Nord and an expression pedal in the Swell. All working.
TBH I have not yet gotten into pedal assignments. Currently, I have no pedals in Footswitch, Rotor, Sustain or Control Pedal sockets.
I am wondering if I would gain anything by also using these pedal sockets? Would I gain flexibility. I like using a footswitch for the Rotary but I understand it only gives slow and fast and no stop.
I (think I) know that the triple pedal provides three gradiated (1-127) pedals, so none of them are simple on-off pedals and I assume they can be operated that way by making 1-64 as off and 65-128 as on (or something like this).
As I am about to embark on creating a lot of layer presets, I would like to understand this better.
Got a lot to learn here.
Any advice please.

Re: After triple pedal How many more pedals?
Oh dear, I just found out that the triple pedal gives out continuous signals but apparently the Stage 4 does NOT respond to continuous pedal on either the middle or LHS pedals. Quite a shocker! Any news of an update to the firmware?
One can verify this by checking the three bars in the triple pedals menu settings, the RHS responds gradually but the middle and the LHGS do not.
So, IMO you gain pedal noise with the triple pedal 2, but not much else.. yet

Re: After triple pedal How many more pedals?
I use a Bose FS-6 footswitch with the NS4, and find it very useful for Layer 2 switching (a lot), and the Rotary (occasionally).
For one complicated set I had the two pedals configured for program up and down, which worked well too.
The FS-6 needs power, which is annoying. You'd be just as well off with any momentary pedal, or two of them.

Since you have a triple connected, you can benefit from the various functions from this pedal instead of connecting several others:
Left pedal options: Una Corda (Default), User Assigned, Layer Scene Hold, Layer Scene Toggle, Pump, Mst Clk Tap, Synth Vibrato, Program Up,
Program Down, Rotor Hold, Rotor Toggle
Middle pedal options: Sostenuto (Default), User Assigned, Layer Scene Hold, Layer Scene Toggle, Pump, Mst Clk Tap, Synth Vibrato, Program Up,
Program Down, Rotor Hold, Rotor Toggle
Right pedal options: Sustain (Default), Sus+Rotor Hold, Sus+Rotor Toggle
All is listed in the manual, page 59 and 60

Thank you very much for your time. Catosim. I still do not understand this pedal unfortunately.catosim wrote: 09 Dec 2024, 09:28 Since you have a triple connected, you can benefit from the various functions from this pedal instead of connecting several others:

I initially thought that having a continuous response from all three pedals would brings lot of advantages over simple "switch" pedals. From my researches I was told that the pedals do not function as continuous pedals yet as it is the Stage 4 that cannot respond. I found that these options (Layer scenes toggle, pump Mst Clk etc) are not what I want. I notice these option appear to only be bipolar as far as I can understand.
I am trying to do things like control the volume slider of a layer or maybe a tremolo dial in Layer Effects, maybe make a variable vibrato for long Rhodes notes. I want to slide stuff in - using the Triple Pedal. Interestingly, as out-of-the-box, there are three tiny rectangles on the RHS of the VDU, on the Triple Pedal Screen - Pedal Settings pg 4/7. The first one shows a continuous response to pedal activity, but the next two do not.
Currently, I think the firmware of the Nord cannot receive continuous messages from the Triple pedal.
It's clear I miss something. OK, the pedal is set to "USER ASSIGN" but then what?
How to assign and what can the user assign? Morph control does not respond to TP2s

Re: After triple pedal How many more pedals?
The key is that the Triple pedals do not respond to Morph assign.nordify wrote: 29 Dec 2023, 14:46 I was ready to return my TP2 but the store, DLX in Stockholm, contacted Nord directly and got a reply that all three pedals are actually continuous but there is currently no support for that in NS4!
They can't go into details about anything but said support is part of the plan for the future. And they will sync with the marketing team so there is no confusion of what is supported.
Found this post from 2023. I think for me, as a person who only uses the sus pedal on a piano, it is therefore redundant space. It goes back into the box until the firmware update.

Re: After triple pedal How many more pedals?
Morph has always been a matter of MW; CtrlPed or AT, don't expect this will be changed for NTP2 (also because its pedals even if continuous are springed i.e always return to 0 and difficult to control in intermediate positions, which makes them far from ideal for controlling morphed parameters).
If you want to exploit Morph with your foot, a good Control Pedal is what you need (Yamaha FC7 is my favorite one)

Thank you. I shall go back to my original set up as I can't really hear much pedal noise when playing anyway.
I am getting a bit of focus on this stuff now. I will be crafting my own sounds from Rhodes and Hammond mostly, might use the synth function with wav files.
Do you think I need both a Ctrl Pedal and another expression pedal plugged into the Swell Socket? I have several pedals, the FC7 is a tad heavy. I have an EV7 and a M Audio too. M Audio is not listed but should probably work and is lighter.
Thank you

Re: After triple pedal How many more pedals?
Swell pedal is needed if you prefer to control Organ Swell (or NS4 overall Volume) separately and not via CtrlPedal; about pedal models, EV7 and M-Audio are both fully compatible so you can go with them (I also use the M-Audio when I prefer to travel lighter
)

Re: After triple pedal How many more pedals?
Yes, as stated by others, morphing isn't one of the intended functions for the triple-pedal.
The firmware and the hardware of the stage isn't designed to route morphing to the triple pedal.
For this you'll need a control-pedal.
I use a control-pedal in combination with the triple pedal (ore a single pedal). The FC7 is very sturdy (but heavy).
A Roland/Boss EV5 (or7) is also a good pedal, and much lighter.
I only use the control-pedal socket. If needed I morph the volume of the organ to the contol-pedal.
