Money For Nothing Intro Electro 6D
Hi there, we have been asked to do Money For Nothing for a private party this weekend and we would like to start it as per the record - can anyone give me idea of how to create the intro held chords (sound almost like Floyds' Shine On You Crazy Diamond) on an Electro 6D. I have another keyboard that can do the lead synth parts. Many thanks.

The background keyboard parts at the beginning of the song are done on a synth with glide/portamento. You can't do that on an Electro, as it doesn't have that capability.
I'd suggest downloading some of the synth pad samples available form the nord website and then you can sort of mimic the glide effect doing a physical glissando up the keyboard as sound transitions from the lower octaves to the higher octaves.

Hmm... just listened to the intro... and if I was in your situation, I would just layer an organ and a classical analog pad, and have them both controlled by the expression pedal, so that while playing the lead part on your other keyboard with your right hand, and holding the chords with your left hand, you could slowly open the pad filter and bring in the organ using your foot...
Not sure about the E6D exact capabilities but... I guess that should be feasible...
To go a bit further, for the pad sound I may do a custom sample in my DAW with some additional looping arpeggiated sound...
Just my 2 cents... hope that helps...
