I have a NP4 88 for sale, and am currently playing the NP5.

The NP4 was great in its time, but the NP5 was a nice upgrade for me. Dual piano engines, better action, nicer FX, etc. The "sound" is subjectively a notch better, probably due to upgraded DACs. Coming off of your CP40, the NP4 will seem like an upgrade, but the NP5 will seem like more of an upgrade.
I think I have gear issues ....

This is all great stuff and I want to thank everyone for their input. I think I'm going to go with a new NP5, based on your recommendations and other demo resources I found on YouTube. One thing I'm already liking is the community around Nord, something sorely missing in the Yamaha realm (or maybe so well hidden I just couldn't find it.)

Great call! I think you will get many years of satisfaction and inspiration from the NP5. This community is exceptional.
