Cannot Find a Good Piano
Cannot Find a Good Piano
Have had the Stage 4, for a month now. Tried all the Nord Grand samples. Cannot find a single one, that even comes close to Ivory 3 Steinway D. All the Nord Grand sampled grands, in my opinion… decay too quickly in the aprox range C4 through C5.

I agree with you : most of Nord piano samples lack of decay.
The only one that is acceptable to me is the White Grand.

What size on Nord Piano samples are you using? I assume XL (if not try those). In any case, take into account that you are comparing a multi GB Virtual Piano (VST) with a max 250Mb piano sampleset for a stage keyboard, some difference shouldn't come unexpected... anyway, current Nord Piano Library is all you can get for the NS4.

Re: Cannot Find a Good Piano
It begs the question, pallies - why are you here? If all the Nord piano samples stink, why did you spend way too much money on one of their boards? Surely you listened to the piano samples on the Nord site, or on any number of YouTube videos, before taking out your wallets...right?
I'm sure Yamaha has some clean, crisp and soulless samples for you to enjoy...they have legions
Also, I'm never one to shy away from criticizing Nord for their increasingly retrograde product line, or its corporate shell Clavia for general market boneheadedness. BUT...their acoustic piano samples are the finest available. That's pretty much a universal consensus. So...maybe the problem is not the pianos, but rather...
