Post by Elijah Hultz »

Does the Nord Half-moon switch work with the Nord Stage 4 88 keyboard?

I noticed that the compact and 88 key models both have the same IO, per the images on the Nord website. I assume it is plugged into the "Rotor Pedal" switch, but is there a firmware limitation on the switch? As far as I know, the only reason why it only works with the compact (per Nord) is because it can't be mounted by screwing it onto the 88 and 73 weighted. Can we get a confirmation?

It is a firmware limitation, on previous models there is a jumper on the mainboard to determine the model (HA 88/76 or Compact) it is mounted on, which is probably what the firmware checks to enable/disable the Half Moon option of Rotary Pedal input and I guess the same jumper exists on NS4 mainboard too.

The Nord Half Moon Switch does work with the Stage 4, but you'll have to figure out some way to mount it to the keyboard though. There is an option to enable the Half Moon switch in the pedal settings. You'll need to set the function of the switch settings to Hold rather than toggle. So far, I can only get it to switch between Slow and Fast. The middle setting of the Half Moon Switch that's labeled "Stop" only seems to switch it into the fast mode. Switching from "Fast" to "Stop" doesn't seem to do anything. I've only just tried it so there may be another way to enable the stop function to work.

Tell me the "Half-moon switch" Doesn't actually work with the Stage 4 88 without saying the switch doesn't work.

You say it works and then proceeded to list all of the the things that don't work. :wtf:
