Re: Nord Electro 3 upgrade
Since you play mostly piano as you say, then I suggest you take a look at a nord piano model also (If not the latest and more expensive piano5, then a 3 or 4). Those have better keybed for piano playing while the electro keybed is more suitable for organ players. I hope you are not getting more confused right now...

Here is a comparison chart of piano 3 and 4. They all have 88 keys though, wich may make it a bit big and heavy for you to carry around.

Re: Nord Electro 3 upgrade
Hi JK
and a very warm welcome to this wonderful forum of nord enthusiasts. I feel that you‘ll be happy with choosing the NE6. It‘s the only electro that will give you access to the piano dynamics features implemented in newest file generation and to nsmp3 sample files which are shared here more and more. These are the points I‘m missing with my NE5. The things the 5 can do better - some MIDI-specs or the 9th drawbar thing - don‘t seem to matter much to you, do they?
And playing piano on a waterfall keyboard is doable.
Have fun and keep us informed. Cheers from sunny Germany

Re: Nord Electro 3 upgrade
Hi Bert, care to explain what you mean by this? The various piano filters that came with the last generation (bright, mid, soft), or something beyond that?Tasten-Bert wrote:the piano dynamics features implemented in newest file generation
Using standard settings I could not discern dynamic differences in the AP sounds when I compared the 5 and the 6.

Re: Nord Electro 3 upgrade
Hi Maurus,
as mentioned on nord‘s website https://www.nordkeyboards.com/products/nord-electro-6 under „Piano Filters“ the electro 6 has a hardware button for „accentuating softness, mid or brilliance“ which is not in electro 5 and which builds on file data in last generation‘s piano samples. It may be in E-Pianos only.
Cheers

Re: Nord Electro 3 upgrade
Thanks Bert, that's what I thought you might mean. In my experience these buttons are more about special EQ settings than about dynamics, but using the buttons some dynamical processing may be involved as well. I found these buttons (on the 6) very useful for the E-Pianos indeed, but much less so for the APs if you are after a "natural" sound.

Re: Nord Electro 3 upgrade
Congrats on your decision. I love my Electro 6 73. It’s light, great sounding, easy to use and fun to play! You won’t regret spending the extra money.
I’m not happy about the 9th drawbar thing though and have ranted on this forum before about. I use the organ preset capability as a workaround, so it’s livable. Otherwise a fantastic instrument.
