NE 3 action vs NE6d
Hi Nord people;
I've been using an NE 6D for about 6 months and I might be imagining this.... but the action seems practically TOO light.
Also feels like the keys are smaller......shorter ? not as wide ? Compared to my old NE 3 which somehow seems much nicer to play....especially B3 stuff.
Did Nord change some aspect of the NE's kybd actions between the 3 and 6 ?
Seems like it has more spring in the action than the NE6
Lastly....the B3 sounds in the NE6 don't seem to have alot of variety in them......even after playing around with the draws alot.
They just don't sound as full as the NE3 somehow....
I may be crazy I know ! Any comments/ suggestions welcome
thx

Re: NE 3 action vs NE6d
i was going to post a similar thing today, but not quite the same. I've been playing a 5D for about 8 yrs now. The light keybed has been bothering me a bit as of late, and I was always under the assumption that the 5D and 6D had the exact same keybed. But I played a friend's 6D this weekend and was amazed at how stiff the action felt compared to mine, and he only just got his (new purchase) recently. Is it just 8 years of use that has made this 5D keybed less enjoyable to play from an action point of view?

Re: NE 3 action vs NE6d
For better or worse, I think the keyboard feel on my Electro3-73 was really light. At first I did not like it, since it was lighter than that of the M-Audio MIDI controller I had used previously. But over time I came to like how my Electro 3 keyboard worked for organ and EPs. I recently bought a used Stage 3, and its owner had replaced its springs with lighter ones, and I also like the feel of this Stage 3 as a result. I have not tried an Electro 5 or Electro 6. But at this point, I would not want anything that had a stiffer feel than what was in my Electro 3, to which my (modified) Stage 3 seems pretty close.

Based on my experience, I'd guess so.afroskully wrote:i was going to post a similar thing today, but not quite the same. I've been playing a 5D for about 8 yrs now. Re: NE 3 action vs NE6d
I came from a Yamaha Montage 6 previously and absolutely love the 6D semi-weighted action. It does have a bit of stiffness, but I appreciate it when I play piano or want some resistance to keep my rhythm in check while playing funk or jazz on epianos.
I know I’m not adding to the Electro comparison discussion, just throwing my two cents in. After 4 months of ownership, playing nearly every day, I could not be happier with the NE6!

I'd like to know what springs were used and how to do it. My E2 keybed feels soooo much better than my new NS3.harmonizer wrote:For better or worse, I think the keyboard feel on my Electro3-73 was really light.
