NO SOUND after reasssembling
NO SOUND after reasssembling
yesterday i opened my grand-nord to clean two faulty "loud" keys. i understood and followed the detailed tutorials, everything worked fine, i reconnected all flat ribbon cables and fixed all screws.
but since i reassembled the piano, it no longer emits any sound, neither through the headphones nor through the connected speaker boxes.
the display and lights get power and work, but when i press a key, no sound is heard.
can anyone help me? what is the problem?

In these situations, the problems is often related to a cable.
In other words You'll have to open it once more and make sure that all cables are properly connected in their correct places.

This and also check there are no bent (or broken pins) on any connectorcatosim wrote:In these situations, the problems is often related to a cable.

Re: NO SOUND after reasssembling
thank you for your answers!
i already checked the connection of the cables several times...and it seems that they are connected properly.
but i didn't look at the pins of the connectors, i will do that in the evening.
i also thought to check conductivity of the flat ribbon cables with a multimeter...and maybe change them...
what do you think?
i think that the problem lies in the connection between the pcb under the keybed and the mainboard,
because there is no sound from any key...
or is ther any fuse that is maybe broken?
i also read that you can enter a test-mode to check the individual pcbs...
but i didn't not found how to enter this trest-mode? do you know how to do?

Re: NO SOUND after reasssembling
There is a fuse in the power unit - but you should see it on the panel if there was no power at all. And for checking sound, you could use the monitor-in socket.

Re: NO SOUND after reasssembling
thanks for the clear indication...then it can't be due to a defective fuse, because the device gets power...FZiegler wrote:There is a fuse in the power unit - but you should see it on the panel if there was no power at all. And for checking sound, you could use the monitor-in socket.
and i have also tried the monitor-in-socket, but there is no sound here either...

Pay attention on ribbon connector pins! In spite connector will sit in the slot, slight change to the left or right make sound or no sound at all.

Re: NO SOUND after reasssembling
I agree with Ivan. When inserting ribbon cables check if there is a horizontal painted line on the insulation. It's there to give a guide for straight insertion and also to help decide if the cable is inserted fully. I got caught out with the latter this week when I was changing a battery on a Galaxy tablet. If you are only partially unscrewing the side bottom case screws you should be able to pivot the case back to allow you to check the cables and power up to check the sound before closing the case. Check in this group for user name Honey who has just posted photos and procedure.

Re: NO SOUND after reasssembling
thank you very much for your help and your persistence in pointing out the importance of the connection between the cables and the connectors....now it works perfectly again!
a connection on the interface board was plugged in incorrectly and interrupted the power supply to the audio outputs.
