Basic Sound of Stage changed from 3 to 4?

Post by docbop »

Has the base sound of the Nord Stage changed between the S3 and S4?

I mention this in posts here and maybe somewhere else and the response ye and probably due to the new routing and maybe a change in the DAC.

I have listened to all the Nord S4 videos and notice one they are a piano centric, some synth layered in, none with organ and of course effects to demo the new routing. The piano all sound brighter than S3 pianos overall sound is bright maybe a bit more processed. So now I wonder is that because they are trying to demo the new features or has the base sound of the Stage changed.

I hope someone makes a video of a S3 and S4 of same Nord piano sounds with zero settings turned on just for comparison. My gut is saying the sound has changed. That it is more like Yamaha, Korg and others being a bit brighter because for live performance a brighter sound cuts through in a band and is better thru the FOH system.

So has the basic sound of the Nord Stage changed from 3 to 4?

There was a change as well between the NS2 and NS3 which I noticed immediately. It seemed clearer, more present. Improvement in DAC would give these results.
