Thanks. Did you see the new OS 0.96 https://www.nordkeyboards.com/downloads ... rd-stage-4 ?nbrooks wrote:I have a NS473HA (factory OS v0.92). Am in initial stages of messing about with it.
-Confirm good news on separate sustain pedal per layer
-Volume encoders do jump, have not found a way around this yet
-Hi-Fi is not a new piano
-Boot time 20.5s for anyone interested
-Upgrading from NE5HP so complexity is new to me, but I can try and help with any specific queries.

Just bought the stage 4. For anyone wondering about the keyboard: from my subjective feeling it’s the same as the nord Piano 5 or even a tad lighter. I will confirm when I brought it home and have it next to my piano 5.

Re the earlier post (apologies for not quoting directly!) describing a NS4 compact on top tier, and weighted controller on bottom tier; this is really exciting and I think the way I want to go.
-What weighted controller do you both use for your bottom tier when playing piano/electric piano?
-What is the difference between Dual KB on NS3, and Aux KB on the NS4?
-Can you set only piano sounds or electric piano sounds for the bottom keyboard? (I’m sure yes, just not sure how to do it)
-Is there any option for a sustain pedal that can plug into both boards at the same time without splicing?
Thank you!

Interesting. I have one question about your set up. I have ordered the NS4C because I want to have one keyboard which I can use for rehearsals and small gigs and which is lightweight. In addition I believe for Organ/Synth playing the compact version is better, also knowing that the piano playing is worse. For this reason I want to order the nord piano 5 to use it together with the NS4C (larger gigs, for technique practicing and for our bands online rehearsals). Are you switching to a NS4 88 or are you also using both together?StefVR wrote:Just bought the stage 4. Another video showing the features and sound of the new stage.

I just arrived home and can confirm what the bonnets guy said in the video. Exact same key feel like my piano 5 which for me is a good thing.
I bought the 5 for playing in ideas and as a master keyboard because I loved the action mostly. However in the evening when I can’t play my Yamaha c6x I play my grand.
So the stage 4 will replace my piano 5 as for pure electric piano playing in the evening I have my grand.

Only nord and real accoustic instruments give me this it just feels right from the first second feel. No idea if it’s latency related or who knows what.

Interesting... as I am playing my NP4 and NS4 88 side-by-side every day for about one week, and they definitely feel different... pretty close though... but definitely different... the NP4 allows me to play more softly with a better "precision" so to speak... I was thinking the NP4 and NP5 were having the same keybed, but maybe not... anyway, thanks for sharing!StefVR wrote:... Exact same key feel like my piano 5 ...

I'm so jealous of all of you that have your new NS4! I definitely don't believe the action is identical between the Piano 5 and the NS4. For one thing, Nord very specifically calls them different things. For another, the Piano 5 has a Fatar TP-40H, non graded action. All Nord Stage 88s, including the 3, and the 4 according to my sources, have the Fatar TP-40M action, although the in case of the Ns488, it has triple sensors. The same action, is also in the 73 key NS4.

I'd be more interested in knowing how the NS4 action compares to the NS3.

Hi @Macsaint777, I already asked for your sources concerning the key actions of the NP5 and the NS3/4, mostly the NS4. Did I miss your answer?
@NiCoX, I tested a NP4 and NP5 side by side a while ago, but the NP5 felt slightly better than the NP4. They felt very close, though. But there is even no evidence all NP4 had exactly the same feeling - I remember some comment on the forum saying a newer instrument felt a bit different from an older one from the same model. In fact, Nord is a manufacturer, so standards for velocity mapping may be slightly improved within a series.
