OK, I have some good news for those of you worried about setting the sustain pedal on/off for the three different synth layers.

I created a three layer patch and loaded some different presets into each layer.

Then with layer 1 selected (flashing LED) I set the sustain pedal on, and on the other two layers I set the sustain pedal to off.

When I did this the sustain pedal when pushed down only held the note on layer 1, and released the other two.

When moving between layers, the sustain pedal LED showed correctly that state which I had set that layer to.

I also tested this for layer 2 and 3, and It worked correctly too.

So all good news on that one.

To those who got their NS4, would you guys consider trying out the kawai GFP-3 triple pedal? Seems like it got the same proprietary connection like the super expensive NTP2 for less than half the price. If this should work, that'd be a steal.

edit: before, maybe you could check out with the triple pedal connection on the backside of your unit if this would fit. Image

wanna purchase this new flagship & want certain features they're looking for in it to for one to be better then the NS3...
Then wait for the impulsive buyers to purchase the 4... Then they can post on here about likes & dislikes...They will have so many more questions answered to what funtions are good/bad... All good though! We mostly only have talk on our Nords because we love this RED ROCKIN board...
As far as I saw by now, the NS4 is a big improvement over NS3 (which is still one of the best stage keyboard out there). I believe NS4 is also a bit over my initial expectations.
But I think I will need to sell my NS3 before to buy it :keyboard2:
I think we have several impulsive buyers here :)

OK, great, thanks for testing this! This means that the SUSTPED LED changes state based on the selected layer. Indeed, the manual should be edited to clarify this-

As it was on NS3, manual does not specify it because all section controls are "per Panel/Slot/Layer" by definition (at least to me that's how I've always read it, only exception being Organ which is not 100% independent across layers e.g when using Perc)

Uhm... connector looks different, NS4 Triple Pedal is a standard 5 PIN DIN "MIDI like" type with one additional slot, probably for a plastic pin used to avoid swapping with MIDI by mistake (see NS4 Manual - Appendix: Connections)

So could it be just a rewiring or more? Only opening a NTP2 will tell, but for sure this means GFP-3 cannot be used "out of the box" instead of NTP-2 , @Nord they know how to take this type of "precautions" with 3rd party material, also NTP 1 was apparently a Fatar VFP3 from outside, but when you look inside it...

MartinJ2EX wrote:About the Synth Stage 4 vs Stage 3…

Stage 3 could do “Dual Osc Configurations” - so one panel/layer could include a saw + eg square, making juno-like sounds possible with one layer.
With Nord Wave 2 or Stage 4, there are only “Multi Wave”, with octaves apart. Can the pitch be edited to be on the same octave? The manual says that only Unison mode makes “classic dual osc sounds” possible…

This would mean to achieve a Juno-like sound, one would need to use a sample or use two layers…

And about sustain… I really hope that pedal and pstick is >per layer<, or else this would be a dealbreaker for me…
The lack of dual oscillator configurations is disappointing to me, also. Same issue with the wave 2. I hope this is something they can add in later.

Anybody else trying to get one in Spain? Stock is really limited and estimated times are for late May

I have a NS473HA (factory OS v0.92). Am in initial stages of messing about with it.
-Confirm good news on separate sustain pedal per layer
-Volume encoders do jump, have not found a way around this yet
-Hi-Fi is not a new piano
-Boot time 20.5s for anyone interested
-Upgrading from NE5HP so complexity is new to me, but I can try and help with any specific queries.
