Piano actions
Piano actions
Hi all,
Does anyone know the difference between the Piano 5s "Grand Weighted Action" and the Stage 2/3 88 "HA" keybed?
I understand that the piano 5 had the triple sensor technology but what about the weighting? Are they all Fatar? If so which model(s)?
As a side note the stage 4 also has a different term - "fully weighted"!

Re: Piano actions
The NS2 and NS3 both use a Fatar TP-40 keybed, customised/modified by Nord: https://www.keyboardforums.com/threads/ ... ead.32160/
The Nord Piano 5 seems to use a TP40 GH (probably also modified by Nord), and has a heavier action than the Nord Stage 2/3. http://www.fatar.com/Pages/TP_40_GH_ES.htm
Exactly what action the NS4 is equipped with is so far not to my knowledge, but I'd guess it's something close to the NP5.
If this is correct, the Stage 4 -88 will be more suited for pianists than the previous Stages. But the downside is that a heavier action will be less suited for organ- and synth-playing.

Re: Piano actions
I am thinking the opposite actually, i.e. that NS4 will keep the same keybed type as the previous NS models, to maintain its "cross-playability" compromise to cover organ-piano-synths.catosim wrote:The NS2 and NS3 both use a Fatar TP-40 keybed, customised/modified by Nord: https://www.keyboardforums.com/threads/ ... ead.32160/

Actually I'm having split feelings about the keybed/action.
On one side I was hoping for a bit more "pianistic" action, but on the other side I'm happy for the (continued) compromises in the Stage action.
