In their website Comparison Chart Clavia seem to have mistakenly left out the Song Mode feature - I thought it at the very least a suitable gesture to amend this for the clarification of all .... because this seems to be one of the most concerning issues with Stage 4 and Clavia certainly haven't clarified much about this at all...
Nord Stage 3 Compact, Nord Piano 5 /73, Nord Electro 5D/73, MODX 6, Casio PX-5S, K&M 18880/1/2, K&M 14047, Vent 2, Lester K, QSC K8.2 x2 ......

As others have mentioned since there's now 8 panels in NS4 to switch between patches and the layer/scene function.. I don't fully understand it yet but on paper it seems you can effectively have 16 patches.. not to mention one patch can now have three synths.. in a way this change sort of replaces the SONG mode.. still can be worked around I thinkFairstar wrote:In their website Comparison Chart Clavia seem to have mistakenly left out the Song Mode feature - I thought it at the very least a suitable gesture to amend this for the clarification of all .... because this seems to be one of the most concerning issues with Stage 4 and Clavia certainly haven't clarified much about this at all...

What no one mentioned so far in the price tag discussion: unlike every other company clavia manufactures their instruments in the EU with worker‘s rights, minimum wage and so on …
Savoy Truffle don't intend a musical revolution but rather to make this world a slightly better place to be – with cleverly arranged, intelligent, stylish and ultimately beautiful pop songs.

Concerning prices, I'm not convinced that the momentary prices can indicate the future use of the Stage 4: I'd be more interested in the prices mid next year - will they follow inflation or is part of it anticipated?
I just recently started buying a loaf of handcrafted bread for a little above 5 EUR compared to 3,50 EUR before (depending on changes for energy and crude materials). You know there are much more examples. Wages may partially follow.

Re: NORD STAGE 4 officially announced for February 16th 2023
Thanks for the replies @cphollis, @FZiegler, @AlexNagel. Your posts have helped me simplify my question:
Is the "Layer Scene II" button:
A - a push-button morph
B - a push-button morph with additional capabilities for parameters/switches that aren't morph-able
C - a switch between two independent programs
I'm hoping for "C" because that would give the most flexibility and would cover most of the situations where I need to use Song Mode. From the Anderton's video, all I see is something like A or B. I would think they would have used different wording to describe it if it were C.
Of course, if it's C, then I'm immediately going into "justification mode" for an S4 purchase sometime in 2024. Judging by a large number of the comments on this thread, by that time there will be a hot market for used S3s in immaculate condition once the supply of new NS3s is gone.
Of course, if it's A or B, I might want to get a backup NS3 before then.

From Nord website:
"The Layer Scene lets you seamlessly switch between two different sound setups at the touch of a button." and
"2 Individual Layer Scene Setups"
My interpretation is that it is A or B... else the wording would be "The Layer Scene lets you seamlessly switch between two different program at the touch of a button."
I hope I'm wrong

Re: NORD STAGE 4 officially announced for February 16th 2023
It's not C, however as we no longer are restricted to the number of instruments in a panel, working with 7 programmed instruments (2 Organ, 2 Piano, and 3 Synth) either Layer Scene can use up to the 7 set up. For example, Layer Scene 1 could use 2 organs, 1 piano, and 2 synths, and Layer Scene 2 could drop an organ, switch to the other piano, take out a synth and add the other for doing a solo (with a seamless transition moving between the two scenes). Depending on what you are working on, with one program you might be able to cover what it currently takes two to cover with the Stage 3.ajstan wrote:...Is the "Layer Scene II" button:

Re: NORD STAGE 4 officially announced for February 16th 2023
means a program saves two scenes, each scene is a combinaison of any organ/piano/synth presets?

Unfortunately, I don't believe so. From what I gather, in a program you can have 7 instruments selected with setpoints defined, and each scene can make use of any of those 7.florence wrote:means a program saves two scenes, each scene is a combinaison of any organ/piano/synth presets?
