It looks like almost nothing has changed with the pianos (except Dynamic Compression and Piano Unison) and the organ.

One fixed split point more and more sample memory (1 GB instead of 480 MB). well!

Still no multilayer samples
Still no flexible splitpoints
Still no controls for envelopes
Still no further development of the "award-winning organ simulations".
Still no further development of the Leslie simulation.

So I will probably use my Stage 3 - together with the Yamaha MODX6+ - for a while.

That's more or less what I expected/feared.

It's an odd one, isn't it? Obviously the piano section's doing velocity based multi-layer sampling so there's no technical limitation. The code's even written. I suspect it's because it would mean the sample libraries can't be shared across instruments and, probably more so, because it would reveal just how little sample memory Nords have. An existing sampled instrument with four layers would be four times as large - not that any of the Nord samples are multi-layered anyway, which is also an issue.

We already discussed that, it is still there, with what looks like and Extern on/off button under Program section and Extern under Synth Mode button, likely for settings.

When the manual and/or more in depth demos will be available it will all be more clear.

Personally: more or less what I expected, following the "tradition" of Nord Stage to have few but relevant upgrades between versions, aligning the Synth to the latest/best model of Nord Lead/Wave but as a scaled down version.

Based on the above, people who continue to ask for multilayer samples should consider that it will be hard that Nord will introduce it directly on the Stage and its synth section is still meant as a "Synth" in the "old fashioned" (vintage) way, as always.

Imho, if you need a workstation rompler with articulations, you should buy/add a workstation to your setup. If you want a setup tailored exactly on you but using a single keyboard, Virtual Instruments added to you keyboard of choice is the answer.
