Connection between M1 Mac Studio and Nord Stage2 EX
Hello.
We would like to discuss the connection between M1 Mac Studio and Nord Stage2 EX.
Currently my working environment is M1 Mac Studio with Nord Stage2 EX on Monterey 12.6.
Audio signals are recognized through the Audio Interface(RME Babyface Pro) and I can record in Logic Pro without any problems, but in the case of MIDI Control and external MIDI tracks, Logic Pro cannot recognize the Nord Keyboard.
Both work fine on my other Macbook Pro (Intel CPU). I'm sure it's a problem of interchangeability between the M1 and Nord Keyboard, but there doesn't seem to be a driver for Mac. I'm worried about whether. Please let me know if you have any solution. If not, I would like to explain the current situation.

Re: Connection between M1 Mac Studio and Nord Stage2 EX
Hello and welcome to NUF.
There should be no difference actually and Nord is MIDI USB Class Compliant so no drivers are needed and I am sure there are other forumers here using Mac OS Monterey that may confirm it, maybe not on Mac Studio but on other Apple-silicon Macs.
To help you better, can you describe which port and/or USB hub (if any) are you using in the 2 cases (Mac Studio and MBP) and have you tried more than one?
PS: I assume you have checked the MIDI system panel and/or Have you tried to use and app like Snoize MIDI Monitor to see if teh problem is generalized or only on Logic. Have you tried also to use Nord Sound Manager?

Re: Connection between M1 Mac Studio and Nord Stage2 EX
Thank you very much for your comment. Currently, Nord and M1 Mac are stereo-connected with 55 cable to Audio Interface with Ch1 and Ch2 out. Others have USB Atype inserted through USBhub. Of course, even if you insert USB A directly into Mac Studio, it cannot be recognized. The Mac that can boot normally is Macbook Pro 15 with Intel CPU and Big Sur. Macbook Pro also connected all cables and USB A type in the same environment.
Anyway, my English is not very good, so I'm really sorry.

Audio connections are not the problem, need to focus on USB.
So you have a USB A-B cable connected between Nord USB port (Type B) and a USB (Type A) port on your hub or directly to the Mac Studio, correct?
Have you tried to see in "About This Mac -> System Report -> USB" on the Mac Studio if you can see the Nord device listed?

Re: Connection between M1 Mac Studio and Nord Stage2 EX
Thank you very much. First, the cable is connected at A-B as maxpiano said. It is also properly described on the System Report. There seems to be no problem with the Mac itself, but why can't Logic Pro recognize it as MIDI? Is it a problem of interchangeability with M1?maxpiano wrote:Your English is good enough, no worriesComposer_tho wrote:Thank you very much for your comment. Everything looks correct. It won't be an M1 issue. If it were me, I would (1) start crawling around looking for software misconfiguration on the Mac, (2) double check midi settings on the Nord, and (3) find another cable to try, and ultimately (3) see if your Mac recognizes other non-Nord devices.

Try also to download Snoize MIDI Monitor and see if the NS2 shows at least there (and on Mac own Audio/MIDI Configuration panel)

Re: Connection between M1 Mac Studio and Nord Stage2 EX
Please check in the MIDI menu that you have the channel properly set to "USB", instead of "MIDI". Same thing with the EXTERN settings.

Re: Connection between M1 Mac Studio and Nord Stage2 EX
Thank you very much. As Mr. cphollis said, I tried to check the generality, but I will not check MIDI on Nord. There doesn't seem to be a separate driver for Mac, so what part should I check?cphollis wrote:Everything looks correct. It won't be an M1 issue.
