velocity loudness problem of one key

Post by Therealnoob »

Dear Nord-User-Forum,

as the support people havent answered me after three attempts since summer I reach out for your help.

Instrument model: Nord Piano 2
Instrument OS version: 1.22
Computer OS version: Soundamanger v7.54
Serial No: PB10038
Type of problem: Audio related (Im pretty sure)
Detailed description of problem/symptom:

since a couple of days I have the ''simple'' problem that the b1 key both in
the Piano Sounds and in the sample synth sounds and through all sound banks
(1-5) is very much louder than the rest of the keys (and even after a completely restored soundbank it still occurs).
It does not seem to be a mechanical problem as I can hear nothing as to sth. inside inhibiting the
velocity. The key itself, when you are gentle, still reacts to a range of
different penetrations and produces a louder or less loud sound BUT when you
are playing and hit that b1 its like a shock because its too loud. I hope you
can help me. I dont know if you can manually adjust volume on just one key.
:thanks: in advance =)

Kind regards from Germany. Cheers
Maximilian

Hello Maximilan and welcome to NUF :)

Actually is likely a hardware problem i.e. probably that key needs some contact cleaning (search for "key contact cleaning" in this forum or also "Nord key contact cleaning" on Youtube for some tutorials on how to do it).

I second what maxpiano wrote. I recently had to open up my Nord Electro because one of the keys made a really loud sound when I pressed it, for any sound in the piano bank. There was a really tiny speck of debris under one of the contacts for that key. Many other Nord keyboard users have had a similar problem, caused by a tiny speck of debris under a contact, and removing it solves the problem.

Wow @maxpiano and @harmonizer for the quick Feedback!!! =) <3 Had it opened once with the help of a friend. I think I remember when to be careful not ripping of that one cord or something.
Cheers from Germany
