Can I change the CC# on a Nord?
Hi, I've searched on this forum but haven't found a thread about this-I have an Electro 5 and want to control a UA Waterfall B3 organ VI in my DAW. The midi control numbers on the E5 drawbars don't correspond to the Waterfall drawbars. For example, drawbar #1 (16') on the Nord is CC#16, on the VI it's CC#12. I haven't been able to find a way to change the numbers on the VI, can I change them on the E5?
Thanks
Thanks

This should be a thing either your DAW can do or a plugin inside your DAW. The Electro isn't a special controller keyboard, it's made for performing.

Hi,
you may use an external device like the Midi Solutions Event Processor to map the CC# of the Electro to the B3 organ in your DAW:

That would work but imho it is a bit of an overkill for a Virtual Instrument, I see the UAD Waterfall B3 doesn't support MIDI Learn (it has fixed CCs) but running it as a plugin in a DAW/Host (or even standalone, but using a MIDI Virtual ports and an app capable of MIDI CCs remapping in the middle) should enable to remap the CCs as needed at 0 cost.Schorsch wrote:Hi,

@Structo: on which computer/OS are you running the UAD B3 and how (standalone or in a DAW, Host...)?

Re: Can I change the CC# on a Nord?
Yeah, it's rare that a clonewheel organ lets you change the MIDI CCs, unless maybe the board is specifically also marketed as a MIDI controller or workstation (e.g. you could do it on the Numa Compact 2X, Kurzweil PC4, Korg Kronos)... and even then, it's possible that you may or may not have the ability to send the custom CCs in "reverse" mode which is the way you want drawbars to work (e.g. the value increases rather than decreases as you pull the slider toward you). VSTs usually do allow you to assign the CCs, but obviously, we have an exception to that here. But as maxpiano said, host software should allow to make the conversion you need. I think even the free version of Camelot Pro will do it, assuming the UAD stuff works fine with Camelot Pro.
